Kairos Five x 5 (Dream and Visions)

December 8, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm GMT

This Months Theme

December’s theme is Dreams and Visions. With the nights drawing in, and we gather around the warmth and light, we have space to dream, to reflect and for God-gifted visions. We share our visions, our dreams, or how those others have shared have changed our lives? What do we think of God gifted dreams, or visions? As usual, we’re hoping for five volunteers and some wide-ranging ideas!

What On Earth Is It?

FiveX5 is simply Five People, with five minutes each to relay their story on the month’s theme, followed by a short time of conversation and our own story sharing. An opportunity to share faith, found out about one another, and to worship in a different way.

How Can You Contribute?

We welcome anyone to share. Ideally, we try and select our Five main speakers prior to the evening, and often people will record their inputs for us, but we love live speakers too. We seek a variety of responses to the theme and certainly don’t wish to restrict ourselves to those who normally have a voice in such things. There is always the option to relay your story during the chat afterwards.

The Background to FIVEx5

Launched in September 2022, Five X5 is part of our experimentation, as a movement, of new ways to gather, for worship and conversation. FiveX5 takes inspiration from the TenX9 series of events, in which nine people have up to ten minutes each to tell a true story from their own life.

With sharing our stories, being one of our key values, for Kairos, we felt we might emulate and adapt the idea, and offer time each month, for five pre-determined people to offer a five-minute contribution on our chosen theme for the evening. Meeting on Zoom, we will listen to each contribution, and then spend the next 30 minutes reflecting and discussing what we’ve heard.

We don’t wish to be hidebound by this, but are exploring the idea that the FIVE contributions could be something like the following.

  1. A story from ancient wisdom, ie the bible.
  2. Presenting an image, or artwork and the feelings, story personal reflection or narrative
  3. A poem, again with reflection or explanation of why it speaks to the person offering it, or might speak to us
  4. A piece of music….and accompanying reflection.
  5. A personal story
