Welcome to our website. Southlands is an Inclusive, family friendly, and community focussed church, with a fabulous art community at our heart. We have 20 artists in residence, with whom we work collaboratively to bless our community. We also hosts counsellors, and lots of community groups. So do explore, and if you can, join us in person.
Proud To Be An Inclusive Church
Southlands Methodist is registered and is an Inclusive Church*, ‘a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate’. Although a fairly traditional Methodist church, as well as embracing a community of artists, partnering with a weekly waste food cafe, mental health counsellors, we support Pride and already offer a place of belonging and spiritual growth for individuals from the LGBTQ community. We have been registered as a venue for same-sex marriages since March 2022. We delight in being a church that spans the generations and a building that supports so many different activities in our community.

Engaging in Our Community
Waste Food Cafe & Food Bank
We partner with Planet Food, and environmental project that takes waste food, and uses it to offer a weekly foodbank, and three course meal to hundreds of local people each week.
Partnering with Local volunteers , artists and volunteers from Planet Food we have developed raised beds which supplement the herbs, flowers and ingredients for Planet Food, but also provide a welcome place of rest and relaxation alongside the church. We have chosen plants that help with pollinators and use the space as an outdoor gallery as well.
