Southlands Parent and Toddler Group

Parent and Toddlers Group

THIS group, started in the autumn of 2006, caters for youngsters aged from 0 to 3½ years of age and meets in the Southlands Community Centre on Wednesdays from 10.00am to 11.45am, during term time. The entrance is from the church car park at the top of Nunmill Street.

We do our best to provide a safe environment for children, but it is understood that parents / guardians are responsible for their children at all times.

Parents are asked to complete a registration form so we have a contact name address and phone number and an email address as well, if there is one. It is hoped that when registering, parents will say “Yes” to photographs which we can use in our church magazine and publicity leaflets, and on the website.

Parents should also bring something like an apple or an orange so the youngsters can have pieces of fruit at break time while the adults have coffee, tea or squash.

The charge is £1.00 per session for one adult/guardian with one child, plus 50p for each additional baby, child or adult.

Most Wednesday mornings start with a choice of playthings and craft activities, such as painting, printing or salt-dough modelling. Breaktime is soon after 11:00 with pieces of fruit and a fruit squash drink for the toddlers and tea/coffee and a biscuit for parents and guardians. Soon after 11:20, parents and children can take part in a time of music and singing.

The group held a sponsored Giant Wiggle in aid of Action for Children on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2015. The event, held mainly in the church, was based on the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
